Saks and Co. Fur Coats

One hundred years ago today …  If you were cold in the 1920 New York winter, and rich, you might take note of this Saks and Company ad on page 2 of The New York Times.

Then you could stop in at Saks and Company on 34th Street and 6th Avenue, where the Saks store had been established in 1902, and get yourself a fur coat for only $150 (1,917.43 in today’s dollars) or, for the big spender, $295 ($3,770.94).

And you might be cold. The temperature had been in the teens the previous day, dipping down to 10 degrees at 11pm the night before.
