Girl Scouts Vs. Poverty

One hundred years ago today … The Manhattan chapter of the Girl Scouts of America participated in the Shoes and Stockings Fund run by the News, collecting money to provide the less fortunate with footwear.

The Girl Scouts of America was founded as an organization in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low. The Manhattan edition was founded a year later, soon followed by chapters for the other boroughs.
