One hundred years ago today … New Yorkers could read about planned new protections for tenants. According to the Daily News, part of what was newsworthy was the fact that Albany Republicans were uncharacteristically legislating on behalf of NYC residents.

At the same time, if you wanted to be a landlord, there were ample Manhattan properties for sale, from plots downtown and along the West Side, to whole buildings, to the top floor of the luxurious Albemarle Hotel.
